Flu Shots
Why
The annual seasonal Flu Vaccine is the easiest and most effective way to avoid potentially life-threatening flu symptoms, such as respiratory congestion, difficulty breathing, body aches, chills and fever.
When
The Kingman County Health Department typically starts offering seasonal flu vaccine shots in early fall. Being vaccinated as soon as possible means faster protection from the flu.Available Vaccines
Flu vaccines available in 2016 are:-The quadrivalent vaccine that provides protection from the four most dangerous flu viruses (for ages 6 months to 64 years), and
-The High-Dose Flu vaccine that provides the best protection for those over the age of 65.
The Nasal Flu vaccine available in the past for children will no longer be offered. It has proven to be ineffective.
Who
Almost anyone over 6 months of age is encouraged to get vaccinated from the flu, especially those who already deal with chronic health problems, as the flu can make those problems worse. The Flu Vaccine is highly recommended for just about anyone who goes out into the public. By receiving a flu vaccine shot, you will not only protect yourself from serious illness, but will also protect those people who cannot protectthemselves, whether it be the newborn baby or someone else who just can’t fight off infection very well.
