As of March 25, 2014, Kingman County has spent $2,040 in 2014 to house inmates in another county due to jail overcrowding. 1 inmate was housed elsewhere in February and 4 inmates were housed out-of-county in March. At least 1 inmate remained housed out of county in April. Housing inmates elsewhere incurs a per diem charge as well as transportation costs.
According to data provided by the Kingman County Sheriff’s Office, the jail has been short of beds on numerous nights so far this year. On 1 night in March, the jail was short 8 beds. The current jail has 13 beds.
